From Setbacks to Success: How to Learn to Trust Yourself

Episode show notes

Happy New Year! I know this time of year, it’s easy to fall into the “new year, new me” hype. But that mindset can be a slippery slope into self-loathing. In this episode, I talk about the fact that while I’m not completely where I want to be in terms of work and organization, I can acknowledge that without beating myself up.

If this is your first listen with me, allow me to introduce myself and welcome to the Soulfully Confident Podcast! I’m your host, Emily Elizabeth, creator of the Soulfully Abundant Group Coaching program and certified Life Coach. This podcast is for the person who feels insecure, lost, and wants more from life but feels stuck. It is for their life. In this podcast, we will cover topics including self-love, managing your emotions, reconnecting in your relationships, and even manifestation. Remember, you are loved, you are worthy, and you are so capable of anything you want to achieve. Let’s jump in!

Have you ever had those weeks where you’re killing it? All your work is completed early, you’re reading and eating well and essentially the stars have aligned and you are motivated to live your best life.

And then, like a sudden toe stub, it all comes crashing down. Just turning on your laptop is painful. You can’t fathom the idea of eating anything but toast. Your classic literature mocks you from dusty shelves.

From Setbacks to Success: How to Learn to Trust Yourself

Congratulations, Friend, You’re Human

And so am I, hence why I’m recording this on the road as I drive to a retreat I’m leading. I very much planned on having all pods for January locked and loaded, as I have in past months, but life had other plans because I’m not perfect. I’m just me. And I refuse to punish myself over the fact that I’d like to be more consistently organized. It’s a noble goal, but it (or lack thereof) doesn’t define me.

Sometimes you’re prepared, and on top of your game, and sometimes you’re not. Stressing about it or being mean to yourself won’t help the situation. What does is the confidence I have in myself, and the fact that somehow some way, I always get my shit done. I know this. I trust this. And I hold myself gently in my own imperfection.

Do I want to work on being more organized and on time? Sure. But not at the expense of my own well-being.

In this FREE 3 day training, I will share with you exactly how I went FROM: insecure, 'fake it until I make it' mentality, and very lost in my relationship TO: crushing my goals, feeling in control of my emotions, totally empowered to go after what I want, and to being in a truly secure and satisfying relationship.

2022, Let’s Do This (Within Reason)

In the dawn of the new year, it’s important to check in with yourself, and embrace any opportunities to improve while making sure you’re not judging yourself and where you’re currently at.

So often we want improvement for the wrong reasons. We seek change because we think we deserve laborious punishment. We want to improve so that other people will love or accept us and we seek their approval.

Self-loathing doesn’t yield consistent enduring change; the foundations are too shaky when built upon self-doubt. And ironically, when we change ourselves from a place of self-love, we are able to show up better for others too.

You Can Love Yourself and Still Try to Be Better: The Bottomline

At the end of the day, this balance is crucial but very possible. You have the power to make the life you want; you control your thoughts on life, work, finances, and every other aspect of your life. This means you control your relationships with every facet of your life.

You can also learn to shift focus and grow into what you want to be instead of forcing a change based on shame or guilt. This focus shift is also important to acknowledge that even the darkest parts of the year taught you something that helped you grow. Learn to reframe the dark times, and you will learn to reframe every part of your life to glean the good and leave behind the bad.

Become empowered in the growth you need to do, and the change you seek will follow.
