Feeling Connected: Thoughts on God & the Spirituality That Unites Us All

Episode show notes

Today we’re going to dive into a quagmire of a topic: whoever or whatever you choose as your higher power.

You’ve Got a Higher Power

If this is your first listen with me, allow me to introduce myself and welcome to the Soulfully Confident Podcast! I’m your host, Emily Elizabeth, creator of the Soulfully Abundant Group Coaching program and certified Life Coach. This podcast is for the person who feels insecure, lost, and wants more from life but feels stuck. It is for their life. In this podcast, we will cover topics including self-love, managing your emotions, reconnecting in your relationships, and even manifestation. Remember, you are loved, you are worthy, and you are so capable of anything you want to achieve. Let’s jump in!

I, personally, identify a higher power as God, Lord, or Jesus. Every morning I break open my “Jesus is Calling” devotional, and embrace the teachings inside.

While reading, this morning’s passage really spoke to me, and I want to share part of it below. I hope it helps you too:

If my children could only recognize my presence, they would never feel lonely again. I know every thought before you think it, every word before you speak it. My presence impinges on your innermost being. Can you see the absurdity of trying to hide anything from me? You can easily deceive other people and even yourself. But I read you like an open, large print book deep within yourself. Most people have some awareness of my imminent presence. Many people run from me and deny my existence because of my closeness that terrifies them. But my own children have nothing to fear for I have cleansed them by my blood and clothe them in my righteousness.

I love reading things like this and then reflecting on it throughout the day. I carry it with me into hard situations where I feel scared or lonely. It really sets a nice tone for a peaceful and patient day.

Feeling Connected: Thoughts on God & the Spirituality That Unites Us All

Jesus, Who?

This is not to say you even have to identify with “Jesus”. This could be any higher power you hold dear, even the universe speaking to you and reassuring you you’re loved and seen.

We are all connected, regardless of our beliefs.

For me, as I stated above, I like “Lord” and “God”. I think it’s the Catholic in me; I have a thing for the “Lord” and wafers.

No matter the presence you connect with, it is that idea that we’re loved and not alone that unites us all. We are all connected through that love. We are always surrounded by light, we just have to remember to tap into it.

I hope you recognize that God walks and works through you. That you are held and protected in love, and you receive the gift of peace everyday if you just connect to it.

Once you do, you truly feel nothing but light and grace, and this allows more room for more meaningful connections and more love in every space of your life.

In this FREE 3 day training, I will share with you exactly how I went FROM: insecure, 'fake it until I make it' mentality, and very lost in my relationship TO: crushing my goals, feeling in control of my emotions, totally empowered to go after what I want, and to being in a truly secure and satisfying relationship.

You’ll Never Feel More Seen

Knowing your truth and seeking it in your higher power is the ultimate source of validation. This allows you to feel seen and known, and you always have someone to vent to when you need to express yourself.

In life, bad things sometimes happen.

Maybe you have a bad day, or a fight with a partner and your negative responses and feelings cut you off from the river of loving energy that’s always flowing.

If you work hard to harness your thoughts, you can step out of the shame and guilt and embrace healing energy. It just takes some practice.

Our thoughts are crucial tools in the process of self-growth and healing. They allow us to tap into the positive energy that surrounds us.

Prayer, Meditation, and the Unbelievable Power of Calming Your Mind and Reaching Out in Love: The Bottomline

So what’s the difference between prayer and mediation? I’d argue that meditation is the most profound form of prayer. So many people I speak to say they can’t meditate because it’s too hard; they can’t stop thinking. I’d argue, that’s the literal point.

I meditate regularly, and I’ll admit there are probably only a handful of seconds where my mind is completely quiet. Still, meditation is worth it for those small snippets of quiet and connection. In those moments I feel the ultimate peace; I am completely open to sending and receiving love out into the universe.

Meditation makes all the noise fade out, and all I hear is my heart and the truth that I am connected within a network of grace.

No matter who or what you believe in, I hope it brings you connection and love. And I hope you know you’re never alone as you walk through this life.
