Look Within: How To Lead With Self-Awareness and Curiosity

What is self-awareness and why it's important.

When it comes to self-development, self-awareness is the very first thing you must look at. If you want to improve and change your life, you need to know what it is that you have to improve. You also should be aware of what's going great and what you want to keep in your life.

Self-awareness definition: A way to understand your strengths and weaknesses and why you behave the way that you do.

My definition of self-awareness is getting to know yourself without harsh judgment. It’s solely a practice of self-love.

Awareness should always be loving because it is there to guide you. If you think you're in awareness but you're being self-critical, you are definitely not practicing self-awareness. Judging yourself is not going to help you grow as a person in your life, in your relationships, and with your goals. Self-awareness is the very first step that you need to learn and understand to start improving your life.

In this FREE 3 day training, I will share with you exactly how I went FROM: insecure, 'fake it until I make it' mentality, and very lost in my relationship TO: crushing my goals, feeling in control of my emotions, totally empowered to go after what I want, and to being in a truly secure and satisfying relationship.

Example of how self-awareness can benefit your life.

Self-awareness is all about asking yourself why and getting curious about why you do certain things.

Why do you behave the way you do?

Why do you feel the way you do?

Why do you think the way you do?

My Example: One example of where self-awareness has improved my life was with my marriage. If I'm upset or angry with my husband, the old me would blame him for every single thing. I would get lost in the victim mindset and make him out to be the villain. Now, when I notice myself getting annoyed or upset with him, I pause and I take some breaths, and ask myself why. I ask why I'm so frustrated and I'll answer it to myself in either a positive or negative way. Then I ask if I want to believe that about him and our marriage and then the soft voice inside of me says no. This is what happens when I step into awareness and get curious about why I'm feeling the way I am.

When you step into awareness, everything becomes so much easier. It's so much better than staying angry or frustrated and it allows for more open communication.

We are all shaped differently. We all have different belief systems and we all have different past experiences. We have to get curious about why we believe things about ourselves and others. They are coming from somewhere it's just a matter of you realizing it.

We are all programmed in our own way and self-awareness helps us tap into that, understand it, and move forward. The beauty of self-awareness is getting to know yourself better so that you can show up and be your best.

When you start showing up as a better version of yourself, your life will change drastically and you become more self-aware.

Daily tips that can help you become more self-aware.

Journaling: When you adopt a journaling habit, you learn to be more organized and all the things that run through your head have a place to go. If you put those thoughts on paper, you can ask yourself more questions and dissect those thoughts.

Therapy or coaching: If you have somebody there to guide you through your self-awareness journey, you don't have to do it alone. Some of us need that helping hand and therapy or a coach can help you get to know yourself better.

Meditation: Take time to just sit with yourself and slow down your mind. This allows you to be more self-aware because you're not allowing any chatter into your head. You feel at peace and you're able to slow your thoughts down and focus on them.
