81. The Power of Women Coming Together to Support & Uplift Each Other

Episode show notes

In episode 81 of the Soulfully Confident Podcast, we are talking all about the importance of connection and women coming together.

I recently had the amazing opportunity to meet in person with three beautiful, like-minded women – Kelsey Mead, Courtney Plaisted & Wendy Ramirez – at a retreat in Las Vegas. In this episode, I’ve brought us all back together to chat about our incredible experience. There is something so powerful about connecting together in person, and I know we all felt that during this retreat.

But before we dive right in, let me introduce myself in case this is your first visit. Welcome to the Soulfully Confident Podcast! I’m your host, Emily Elizabeth, creator of the Soulfully Abundant Group Coaching program and certified Life Coach. This podcast is for the person who feels insecure, lost, and wants more from life but feels stuck. It is for the person who is ready to claim their confidence, self-worth, and take back control of their life. In this podcast, we will cover topics including self-love, managing your emotions, reconnecting in your relationships, and even manifestation. Remember, you are loved, you are worthy, and you are so capable of anything you want to achieve. Let’s jump in!

I’m so excited to share this beautiful conversation. For even more details on each point, listen to ALL of episode 81 of the Soulfully Confident Podcast on your preferred streaming platform!

You are not alone.

I think one of the biggest things we all took away from this retreat is that none of us is doing this alone. Entrepreneurship can be lonely, when you’re going after your goals and putting yourself out there in different ways by yourself. Sometimes you feel like you're on an island. But by just getting together and connecting face-to-face, we dropped the comparisons and realized we're all human.

None of us are on a pedestal out here in this industry. And those connections are out there for you, too, if you want them. You just have to look for them.

Calling someone out isn’t always an attack.

Calling someone out isn't always an attack, as long as you’re challenging someone from a place of love because you have their best interests in mind. It takes a certain mutual level of respect to be able to do this, but it can be so powerful when you can build that dynamic.

This is something we feel we were all able to do at the retreat, and we felt like it was something we all needed. You have to be ready to get uncomfortable. But when you ARE ready? It’s so magical. Holding space for each other and calling each other out in such a loving way was what made this such a powerful experience.

How do you want to show up?

Taking the time to think about how you want to show up in the world can be so freeing. This can be anything from the decisions you make to how you present yourself in a group. We all came to this retreat with the intention to show up fully as ourselves.

And when you just show up fully and as yourself and you know that you’re coming together for the same reason, you put yourself in a position to learn and to grow and to do something that you normally wouldn't. From that, you’re going to come out stronger every time. But you have to set that intention up front to get the results you want.

In this FREE 3 day training, I will share with you exactly how I went FROM: insecure, 'fake it until I make it' mentality, and very lost in my relationship TO: crushing my goals, feeling in control of my emotions, totally empowered to go after what I want, and to being in a truly secure and satisfying relationship.

Investing in yourself is about more than just the resources.

Investing in yourself, whether it’s a mastermind, a group program, a retreat, or anything that puts you in a place of growth, is an investment in your experience. It’s not just the resources that you’re getting from the experience. It’s the unknown aspects of the event that end up being the most rewarding.

It’s all about the things you get that you can't plan for, right? And those things can only happen when you trust in the process. You have to trust that whatever happens is meant to happen, to stretch you, expand you, and help you grow. It’s going to help you become a 2.0 version of yourself who makes those empowered decisions, who walks into the room nervous but excited to see what happens.

There is power in validation.

As women, we try to carry the weight of the world on our shoulders; as wives, moms, partners, and business owners. We wear a lot of hats. And at the retreat, we went around the room and said something that we admired in each person there. The reason why it was so impactful for all of us is that we heard so many things about ourselves that we maybe weren't telling ourselves or we hadn't heard from anyone else before.

Also, as women, we are extremely emotional creatures. But we’ve been conditioned to stuff those emotions down. We don't necessarily always know how to process those emotions or how to fill our own cups. So hearing those beautiful words from everyone, we all felt SO seen, heard, validated, held, supported, comforted, empowered, lit up. And we all crave that!

And so if we're not getting that in our day to day life, it can be so uplifting. We have to remember to do that more for each other, because it helps give us permission to be the fullest expression of ourselves.

Surrounding yourself with the right people is key.

Surrounding yourself with people or putting yourself in environments with people who are also working to grow on their personal development journey is so crucial. Maybe you don’t currently have people like that in your life, but there's definitely an opportunity to find them when you put yourself in the position to be surrounded by these types of people.

So if you feel like you’re lacking in growth-minded people, step out of your norm and into a different community or different environment, with different humans. Connecting with different women is so, so rewarding. Sometimes you don't know what's missing until you have that experience. And we guarantee that any time you put yourself out there to grow, you’ll start to realize that the conversations become different as you start to level up.

Feel the fear and do it anyway.

When you start on a path of growth, there is always going to be a barrier because you're growing from your past. You’re outgrowing a previous version of you. And part of that process is intentionally choosing to put yourself in environments that are conducive to growth because otherwise... you're just going to stay the same, right?

And until the conversations change and until your communication changes, you're just going to keep repeating those old patterns that keep you small. For many of us at the retreat, we felt a fear of success. We were afraid of what was actually going to be possible for us when we opened ourselves to change.

But it’s okay to feel fearful. It's a very human emotion that is never going to go away. It's embedded in our DNA. You can take it with you, but don't stay stuck in it. Whether it is the smallest little step to sign up for a free challenge or to get on a consultation call with a coach, or to sign up for a retreat… do it, and take that fear with you.

Change the meaning of your stories, change your life: The Bottomline

At the end of the day, you’re the narrator of your story. And when you change the meaning of your stories, you change your entire life. And when you change the way things mean to you, you change your perspective.

In life, you can have the attitude that things are scary, that other people will always be more successful than you. You can have a victim mentality. But if you live your whole life with that mentality, you're not going to walk away with as powerful of breakthroughs as you would if you have the attitude of, “I wonder what's here for me? I wonder what I can learn from this?”

This playful curiosity is such a superpower. That’s when you have the breakthroughs and the shifts. That's when you notice all of these things that were there the whole time, but you didn’t see them because you were so focused on not being good enough, not fitting in, being nervous, being scared. We’re all so glad that we showed up for this retreat with an attitude and story of curiosity, because we came away from the experience completely changed.

I hope you felt the magic of this episode and that this conversation helped inspire you to come together with other women to share your most vulnerable self! When you show up with intention and connect with the right people, MAGIC happens.
