Secret to Creating the Life You Want: Change the Story You Tell Yourself

Describing your life to get clear on your story.

I want you to take a moment and think of some descriptors about your life. When I think about mine, the words fun, exciting, weird, and abundant come to mind. Think about the adjectives that fit into your life. Are they negative or positive? Or... are they a mix?

The way you have just described your life is the exact way your life is going to go. We all have different stories, and we actually create them every single day.

Here's one of the first things I want you to take note of when you talk about your story: Anything that is a descriptor is an opinion, and it can't be proven. The more you believe that the things you tell yourself are fact, the more you create of it.

We need to stop getting so caught up in our stories and convincing ourselves that everything is a fact. Emotions are not permanent, and you need to recognize how your story feels when you talk about yourself, your partner, or anybody in your life.

In this FREE 3 day training, I will share with you exactly how I went FROM: insecure, 'fake it until I make it' mentality, and very lost in my relationship TO: crushing my goals, feeling in control of my emotions, totally empowered to go after what I want, and to being in a truly secure and satisfying relationship.

The filter we have in our brain that ended up creating our story.

We have a filter in our brain called the reticular activating system. There is no way that our brain can process every piece of information that it is exposed to, so we have this filter that is basically a focus filter. Depending on what you've thought about more, the more that information is going to stick with you.

In the past, I would constantly tell myself that my husband was inconsiderate. My brain would constantly think it over and over again so then, what happened? My brain literally searched for evidence to prove that my opinion was a fact.

Good or bad, you choose what to believe because it resonates with you. How do you know if you want to keep your current story? By how it makes you feel! If it isn't making you feel good, you 100% can work towards creating a new story and shifting your brain in a new direction.

We create the life we live.

You create the life you’re currently living, whether you like it or not. This is an amazing thing because that means you can actually create the life you DO want. If you're not happy with what you're creating for yourself right now, then change it.

How can you change it?

  • Slow down and recognize the concept of separating story vs. fact.

  • Get rid of any descriptors that are just opinions.

  • Pay attention to the little stories you tell as well before they get bigger.
