Mirror, Mirror on the Wall

Look in the mirror. What do you see?

I have my clients do what I call a “mirror exercise”. I have them stare at themselves for a while and describe what they see.

.

It’s scarier than you think. Everyone dreads this exercise.

But, how we talk to ourselves about our physical traits is extremely important. Of course, how we talk to ourselves about who we are on the inside is equally as important.

Most of us talk shit. Yup, you stare at yourself and insult every roll, wrinkle, blemish and anything else we can find to prove our negative beliefs about our looks.

I still catch myself doing it...but, I stop immediately when I notice it. It doesn’t serve me. It hurts me. It’s a daily practice this “mirror exercise” and it’s a wonderful one.

I challenge you to look in the mirror, naked if you’re up for it, and love your body, be kind to it, grateful for what it has done for you. Find the beauty in the “flaws” that aren’t flaws.

This is one way I help my clients understand themselves and how they treat themselves. This is a powerful practice to build confidence and self love. Try it. Let me know how it goes.

With Love,

Emily Elizabeth
