THINKING yourself OUT OF ACTION

Ya know when you get so excited about a new idea or a goal?

You tell all your friends and family about it. You can’t stop thinking and talking about it. You feel confident, motivated and inspired!

But right before you can take some action while riding that wave of positive emotions, your brain says “Wait! What about everything that could go wrong?” And, there it is. The thought that snowballs into a block of negative thoughts.

So you don’t take action, you don’t take the first step.

You are thinking yourself out of action. Your mind goes to every possible roadblock and obstacle, it taunts you with ‘what if you fail and will be so embarrassed?’, and then your emotion quickly switches to fear, doubt and insecurity.

We don’t take the right action to get us to our goal from a place of fear, doubt and insecurity.

Obstacles are inevitable. You will encounter them. Use these obstacles to propel you forward rather than stop you from even trying. If you expect it, allow it, embrace every twist and turn on the way to your goal, it becomes the best part of the ride. Why? Because you learn so much from it, you grow, you build your belief in yourself.

So the next time you are excited about an idea, try to hold on to that feeling a little longer so you can take action from that emotion. Know that obstacles will come, they don’t have to be scary and they can be valuable learning lessons. I never view an obstacle as a failure, but rather as a learning opportunity. So, on that note I think the saying goes “Better to have tried and failed, than never to have tried at all”.
